Lost Marbles Brew Co.

Self Initiated; Branding, Identity, Print Design, Packaging Design.

What began as a couple of illustrative patterns, turned into a fun exploration for a concept brewery. The four patterns were originally submitted for a summer series of “Crowler” (32-ounce aluminum cans for brewery take out) at Saint Benjamin’s Brewing Company in Philadelphia, PA. That project went in a different direction, showcasing hand-drawn illustrations I originally did for Inktober in 2017. You can see those here.

I chose to explore the potential application of my patterns with a light-hearted brewery whose naming conventions hint at fun pop-culture references such as “Sponge Pants Hazy IPA” and “Clever Girl Stout”. The all-over patterns feature hand-illustrated (pen and ink) elements that are digitally colored and bold attention-grabbing colors to attract the wandering eyes on the shelves of your favorite beer store. The logo mark serves as a dual-functioning element, creating a dedicated space to display the unique beer names, as well as identifying the playful nature of the brand.

The "Lost Marbles Brew Co." brand name is based on one of my late grandmother's sayings: "I'm losing my marbles" (Forgetting things). Although frustrated with forgetting things (she suffered from dementia), she never took it seriously and was the first one to joke about it. I wanted to remember that mentality and channel it into the spirit of the brand.
